MUSIC & REMIXES
I have been trying to figure out music since high school when an old friend of mine showed me a few chords and progressions on his guitar. He then introduced me to Cannibal Corpse & Napalm Death and told me Nine Inch Nails was for wusses. His lessons took, his music tastes did not.
Since then, I have consistently played and recorded music. I have played in a few bands like Dr. Steel and Carved Souls as a live keyboardist and have done a bit of remixing. In the last 5 years my focus has steered toward soundtracks.
I am heavily influenced by Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, Nick Cave, and Warren Ellis, which I hope becomes obvious.
SOUNDTRACK WORK
Presented here is a spec soundtrack for an unreleased untitled short film. Now, how vague is that?
This soundtrack was created after the script and character designs were finished in attempt to help set the mood and feel of the film for others working on the project's development phase. Though the project never took flight as a short film, I am very proud of my contribution - a slow burn audio experience in seven tracks.
I wrote, arranged, performed, mixed, and produced each track under the pseudonym "Locus Balance". I use Native Instruments Komplete 11 as my softsynth package, CuBase Artist 10 as my DAW, and Waves bundles for plugin FX, mixing, etc.
THE DR. STEEL LIVE SHOW
During the mid to late 2000's I had the honor of playing in Dr. Steel's live show as his keyboardist. We played some great gigs, made an appearance on Jay Leno in a skit, signed autographs at Golden Apple Comics, met numerous amazing fans, and generally had a blast. I was definitely the least talented one there but I was faking it till I made it.
Presented here is our live show at the Key Club, January 26th, 2006.

THE REMIXES
During my incarceration in Dr. Steel's Utopian Playland, I was fortunate enough to get some [audio] stems from his original recordings and made a series of remixes that were never officially released. The idea was to take only the vocal tracks and rewrite each song based on what I already knew from playing live. Hooks and melodies were either reintroduced or rewritten to accommodate my new mix.
Some of these tracks are rough and/or incomplete as the Dr. Steel brand was retired before completion. Nonetheless, it's a fun listen and if you are a Dr. Steel fan, chances are you haven't heard these. All rights to the original material and these remixes belong to Dr. Steel.
